THE "DISTANT" COUSINS!

newfamily.jpeg

Hermann Stadler(blue plaid shirt)is a distant cousin, related through the Kubecks. Hermann lives in Nienhagen and works as a jailer. Hermann's relatives lived in Furstenthal; his Dad is deceased and his Mom is still living in Germany. Hermann took many pictures for his Mom and also took some of the earth from the homeland, home to his Mom. Hermann is a great guy; always moving and curious. He was a great fellow to chum along with. Thanks Hermann!

THE WUDI MEN. Alfred Wudi, his son Bernd, and nephew, flew into Suceava so we had a nice surprise waiting for us. They are distantly related but I am sure Doug will figure out how.

Alfred is retired and has a deep concern for Bucovina and the people there. We were fortunate to visit in the home where Alfred was born, in Negreleasa. The Popa family lives there now and Alfred gave tours of the small house where he lived and where his siblings were born. The Wudi guys also made a hiking voyage to the crest of the hills, behind the old house. They located a spring that supplies water to the house ( or did). So they were able to get a lucious drink of spring water from the homeland.

Alfred headed up our return trip to Schwarzthal and also took up the collection for the Orthodox church roof repair. Alfred, Bernd, and Franz Heinrich are true gentlemen and they all took good care of us gals. Thanks, you all, for a delightful and insightful adventure.

I was also fortunate to be invited to spend three nights (and two delightful days) in Mainz at the home of Hildegard and Alfred after we returned to Germany. ( See Germany II)
