The Society meeting was held at 2:00 pm on the 15th of June. There were headsets available for translation but none in English. So we listened, snoozed, and enjoyed the orchestra music between speakers. The focus of the meeting was to discuss the need for bringing Romania into NATO and the Western European organization. There were government respresentatives from France, Ukraine, Germany, Hungary, and Romania.

The banner announces: Welcome to Bucovina! In German and Romanian below.

Following the meeting there was a wonderful buffet dinner with plenty of liquid refreshment. The orchestra set up in the balcony of the lobby and the Salzgitter group did acapella songs with the crown singing along! What a great time. The Americans and our German cousins were the last to leave!

I meet this gentleman (above) twice. He is Stanuslav Motyka from Vatra Dorni. He is one of the Germans living in Romania. I first heard him yodeling in the driveway at the University. Of course I made a bee-line for yodeling. He was delighted to hear me try to yodel and we became fast friends.

I meet him again here at the Society meeting, shown with his friend. He invited us to his home in Vatra Dorni but we did not have time to go there. He is a great guy and I plan to write to him. These older guys always remind me of how much I miss my Dad, John Von Allmen, a Swiss yodeler. Thanks Stan!!!!

The lady in white is Lydia Funke, with the Salzgitter group. She spoke some English and she and here friend were interested in Houston, Texas. Lydia took me under her wing when I was on the 2nd Bus and I appreciated it so much.
Thank you Lydia for your happy smile and help!

The couple on the left is a father/daughter couple from Germany. I am embarrassed that I do not have their names. They were very sociable and on our return to Germany, they helped me get to the train station and on to Mainz. Danke viel mal!

The other two are me and Hermann Stadler.
