Our primary driver and tour director was Richard Elischer, left, and driver, Jan Cioleck. Richard spoke Romanian and of course German and he did a fabulous job of keeping the trip rolling. From making coffee, serving wurst, cleaning the bus, and driving around all those horse wagons, he made our trip an unforgettable memory. Jan was very quiet but he provided excellant support and driving relief. These guys even had to change a tire on the bus. Thanks so much for delivering us safely all the way, through the border stations, to Bucovina and back!
Justina Gorjonec was my roommate. Justina was born in Croatia, had lived in Germany, and now lives in Seattle, Washington. She is friends with the Garbes and those three were traveling on south, from Vienna, into Croatia. (Below) Louise Garbe and her daughter Jodie Garbe are from Seattle, Washington. They are related to the Tauschers and had been to Schwarzthal once before looking for relatives. Some of our Jungs and Seemanns married Tauschers but not those that are related to Louise and Jodie. Sometimes these relationships are just so confusing! Jodie is a veterinarian and I hear she has accepted a job in Africa!

THE REST OF THE GANG! |

Terezia and Friedrich Hermann. Friedrich was a wealth of knowledge regarding the old country and he always had Terezia close by to keep him in line. A delightful couple; Terezia speaks Romanian. |

The couple above are Dr. Rosemarie and Horst Eppler. I am embarrassed to say that I don't know who is who for the other two couples. They are Gisela and Franz Brandes, and Hilde and Hartmut Zulssdorff.

Erika and Karl Hasenkopf were a friendly, outgoing couple. They joined in with us crazy Americans and German cousins on our one nighttime venture to explore the pubs.
Roland Jeremias. A quiet, ever smiling guy.
